Down with industrial ceramics!

Down with industrial ceramics!

The hen party is part of every professional wedding - at least in most parts of Germany. Catering was provided and in exchange gifts were brought for the bridal couple. In the past, chickens were a common gift. They are considered a symbol of fertility and it is assumed that this is where the term "Hen Party" comes from.

Shards bring luck!

In the past, washbasins, toilet bowls (!) and of course old industrial ceramics were thrown away on this occasion. It is very important that only porcelain, stoneware and earthenware is thrown away! The difference between porcelain and ceramics we have introduced to you in an earlier article. At the hen party, no glass or even mirror may be thrown, because they bring seven years of bad luck to the thrower and the bridal couple. When throwing ceramics, on the other hand, evil spirits are driven away in this way, similar to New Year's Eve, and you could also sort out. We can all imagine what kind of evil ghosts can live in an old toilet bowl! On the first litter there was also a schnapps at the beginning.

Grandpa's old beer mugs and grandma's old mug got to know the hard ground of facts this way. At the mentioned wedding, however, other industrial ceramics came to an abrupt end and we felt a satisfying satisfaction with every single litter. After all, shards also bring good luck!

Industrial ceramics? Thanks no!

We are talking about the 1 € cups of a large Swedish furniture store and similar stores that offer this form of ceramic products! This horrible industrial mass product is manufactured in far away countries under questionable conditions on a large scale. This product is good and cheap for the moment. But we know all these glasses, which become cloudy and milky after half a year of use. With cups and plates it is nothing else. Scratches on the plate from the cutlery and stirring marks from the spoon in the cup. Quantity instead of quality is produced - and on a grand scale. This product lacks soul, craftsmanship and tradition, but above all quality. This industrial ceramic is anonymous and has travelled far and wide.

For insulators and roofing tiles this is undoubtedly not important, we are grateful if the shingles fit into each other and not all of them vary a little. For our tableware, our decoration, however, one wishes for personality. After all, we are not all the same. It is stimulating when you discover something new about your interior every day.

Handmade is simply better!

We are driven by curiosity and industrial ceramics is about as stimulating as the Bielefeld telephone book. Another problem that mass production brings with it from abroad is that young people learn nothing in their own country! Whole trades are threatened with extinction because the young people are missing or there is no need for the product to be handmade. By the absence of the new generation the tradition is lost at the craft itself. Our mentioned bridal couple belonged for a long time also to the people, who regarded consumer ceramics as despicable ceramics to use. And so does the Swedish furniture store mentioned above. Unfortunately one does not appreciate these ceramics, because they do not cost money. Industrial ceramics quickly end up in the garbage and are trapped in the cycle as a wasted resource. Because the next service is off the rack again, you just got tired of the old one. After they heard about the advantages of handmade ceramics and the envy of the guests, they wanted their own service. In their colors, their design and nothing off the rack!

On the hen party we went full throttle

Of course, this handmade utility pottery is not available for 1 € per cup, but that's the attitude to life. Individuality costs, but in return you have something just for yourself. No one will ever come and say "ah, we have the cups too". On the contrary, handmade ceramics radiates style and awareness of detail. This beautiful feeling of having something for oneself is also what makes handmade deco ceramics and is the crowning glory of one's individuality. Through personal processing, the piece is given a soul and enriches the user with every use. This soul has to be cared for, therefore down with the anonymous industrial ceramics!

We clay lovers had the special pleasure of smashing these disdainful white cups, plates and platters and freeing the bridal couple from the yoke. The soulless mass ceramics have had their day!

Give me another cup, I still have to chase away a ghost!

To make sure that the two of them are not left without crockery, we delivered the handmade service on time. To the question - what if something breaks? - we have taken precautions. Because we produce rotating templates for all our individual orders, no matter whether it's just a cup or a whole set. These are stored customer-specifically and in the case of the case we can manufacture set parts without problems. This practice has already surprised many customers and made them love their utility ceramics even more. Because what was once thought to be lost can easily be re-manufactured by us and the specially made set can be completed again.

Of course, the wedding apple should not be missing at a wedding. We have presented this lovely old tradition to you in an earlier amount. In any case, both of them were very happy and the reading of the happy and pious wedding wishes was a highlight at the wedding table.
