The form follows the purpose - but not without considering the aesthetics. The handmade Raku soap dish made of glazed ceramic with pastel-coloured floral relief is more than a useful utensil. The eye-catching shape gives harmony and the large hole at the bottom of the soap dish ensures that the fine handmade soap always stays dry. The grooves in the floral relief are cleverly designed to prevent the soap from sticking to the dish.
The delicate glaze was created using the Japanese Raku technique. The ceramics, which are heated to over 1000 °C, are carefully lifted out of the kiln with heavy iron tongs and placed in beechwood shavings. The yellow glowing ceramics ignite them immediately and the fire, soot and ashes form a unique piece of traditional craftsmanship. Due to their dangerous nature, Raku ceramics are not widely used in Europe - we want to change that, because the beauty of these ceramics speaks for itself.
The square soap dish is about 7 cm wide and about 10 cm long.
For this soap dish, we have chosen the hand-boiled soap from the Rügenseifen manufactory. Their 75 g soap "Sassnitz Chalk Sea Buckthorn" also complements thematically to our handmade soap dish. Like the Keramik-Kartell, Rügenseifen focuses on resource conservation and sustainability.
The soap combines sea buckthorn pulp oil and the mineral-rich Rügen healing chalk with cocoa butter, almond oil. The best thing is that genuine Rügen rape seed oil is used and the soap is absolutely vegan! The great scent of the soap is achieved by the fruity - fresh and yet essential Litsea Cubeba oil - delicious!
The ingredients of the originally packed 75 g soap bar are ocos nucifera oil (coconut oil), elaeis guineensis seed oil (palm kernel oil), brassica nappus oil (rape oil), cocoa butter (cocoa butter), prunus amygdalus dulcis oil (almond oil), aqua, sodium hydroxide, calcium carbonate hippophae rhamnoides oil, natural perfume, citral, limonene, geraniol, citronellol.
