Hand Painted Large Mug 'Cheshire Cat'

Big eyes, pointy teeth, misty-eyed and a bit crazy. No, we're not talking about monsters under the bed - we're talking about the Cheshire Cat! Lewis Carroll created the children's book 'Alice in Wonderland' in 1865 and breathed life into a series of curious characters. As a tribute to the Cheshire Cat, we have captured this enigmatic creature on a handmade mug.

With our interpretation of the Cheshire Cat, we dispel the mists of the night with every sip from the handmade pottery cup. This was turned thin-walled on the potter's wheel and a handle was neatly added afterwards. The face of the Cheshire Cat, including the pointed teeth and the dramatic eyelid line, was scratched into the surface of the cup for sufficient multi-layered character.

The colouring of the cup was achieved with a wide variety of glazes and is contrasted by the glossy white interior. Care has been taken to ensure that the colours harmonise with each other while giving the Cheshire Cat an authentically misty character!

The handmade cup is about 7 cm high and 10.5 cm wide at the opening. It weighs approx. 230 g and has a filling volume of approx. 350 ml.
