This unique piece is made with the Japanese Raku technique. Every step of the process, including the razor-sharp edge of the glaze, was meticulously handcrafted. The simultaneously organic, open shape gives the tea bowl (Japanese Chawan) a cuddly pleasantness, which is further enhanced by the beautiful blue gradient of the glaze. On the surface, the water is bright and flooded with light. The deeper you descend, the darker it gets - until the black abyssus at the bottom has swallowed up all the light. The black lines of crackle are like threads running through the promising blue, ready to continue to absorb all incoming daylight.

The blue, which is reminiscent of water, stands in stark contrast to the history of this unique tea bowl. It was born out of fire and coincidence has shaped it. Despite the most careful cleaning, the smell of soot and fire has not yet completely disappeared.

The tea bowl has a wobble-free and stable base. It is not 100% waterproof, which is due to the Raku technique. Due to the suspended particles contained in the tea, the few still open channels sinter and quickly seal the tea bowl. This tea bowl is not for people who drop their tea, it is something for connoisseurs!

The tea bowl weighs about 200 g, which is relatively little for a vessel of this size/function. It is approx. 7 cm high and has a diameter of 10 cm at the top edge. The filling volume is > 280 mL.
