Product description

The spray of the sea, waves and the black abyss of the deep sea. All of the elemental impressions flowed into the creation of this Hohin. The beauty of nature is accepted and revered in all its facets. Its bright colours and the random course make this Hohin a unique unicum. It is additionally crowned by a real Baltic chicken god - luck on all paths!

The tea bowl was turned filigree by hand on the potter's wheel and later cleanly reworked. All edges of the rough, earthy clay were removed and a wobble-free foot was added to the set. Typical maritime colours were used to match the clear form of the Hohin. The inside was kept in polar white to make the tea as flattering as possible for the eyes. The outside is the real highlight. Blue trickles run over the black surface. The organic blue glaze flows into white spray on the upper side. The lid of the Hohin carries the self-collected Baltic chicken god. It is presented like a gift from Poseidon on the top of the set. The lucky charm as an eye-catcher on the blackboard or at the desk, which takes the viewer on an exciting journey of discovery!

Traditionally, the Hohin is a tea bowl which is used for the preparation and consumption of large-leaf loose tea. The sieve integrated in the lid retains the leaves when pouring into the corresponding tea bowl. The lid also serves the purpose of keeping the tea fresh in the hollow for the next infusion.

It is a central component of Japanese tea culture. Its shape, imperfect and asymmetrical to European eyes, brings the Hohin to life. They underline its uniqueness, the individuality of each bowl. This philosophy makes Japanese tea culture something unique, which promotes and reveres unique pieces.

Due to the manufacturing process, the tea bowl has a small wobble-free foot and allows the water to run off cleanly. The tea bowl is made of stoneware (high fired ceramics) and like everything in the ceramic cartel, it has a food safe glaze. It can be washed in the dishwasher (except for the lid) and put in the microwave.

The hollow weighs about 400 g when empty and the tea bowl about 220 g. Both have a filling volume of 220 mL. The Hohin is particularly suitable for beginners, as its shape makes it easy to create an even pouring flow.
